This show had some problems. Initially, M.A.D. was not on the bill, it was supposed to be Vindicator and Aggressor. Unfortunately, Vindicator lost one of their main members and had to cancel the first few dates of their tour, and since Aggressor was traveling with them, we lost both bands. Mutually Assured Destruction from, I believe, Moravia, were awesome enough to cover one of the slots at short notice. (Pictures)
Next up was Moore from Denver, Colorado. I was thrilled to have these guys come all the way out and perform here in Ithaca. We have been playing them on The Last Exit for the Lost for years now, and their latest CD is just amazing. (Pictures)
And finally, headlining the night, also from Moravia, NY, Angels Beneath Me. This was to be vocalist Chano's last show with the band, but things changed. As of 2011, he is still in the band. (Pictures)

April 23, 2010 - Sorrow of Batavia, Gwynbleidd, Chamber Law, and Others

I am pretty sure we have had Others play for us more than any other band lately, not that that is a bad thing. For one, they are a band that has enough material to always do a different set every time they play, and they write like crazy, so they always debut some new songs, and well, they rock. They come from Binghamton, NY, and play a mix of Punk and Metal with Horror movie overtones - Pictures - Website -
Ithaca locals Chamber Law are a band we have also had play quite a bit for us over the years, and now, with a slightly different line-up than they started with, they just keep getting better and better every time we see them. - Pictures - Website -
We have been trying to get Gwynbleidd up to Ithaca to play for years. In fact, the first time we had them booked (which they had to cancel) was the last show for Chamber Law's first vocalist, D. Finally, however, things came together, and they blew everyone in the crowd away, despite no one knowing quite how to pronounce their name. Below is an interview with the band, along with the songs clips. Part of the interview appeared on The Dave and Joe Show: Volume 3. - Pictures - Website -
Finally, headlining the night, the always impressive melodic death metal of Sorrow of Batavia. Hailing from Elmira and Ithaca, these guys have not been together as long as you would think when you see them live. Blistering and brutal live, they are easily one of my favorite local bands to see live. - Pictures - Website -

A brutal, heavy show, marking the return to Ithaca of 137. We started with the groove centered Death Metal of Ithaca's Chamber Law, putting on what may be their best performance to date. Followed by Rochester's 137, who have gone through many lineup changes since the last time they performed for us years ago. They are just again starting to do shows and get into the swing of things, sludgy and heavy as ever. Lethal Dose was up next, from Watkins Glen. I had never seen them before, and their demo songs were good. Live, however, they were freakin' awesome. I was completely blown away by their, slightly short, set, but that demo does not do them justice. Go see them live. And finally, Ithaca's own sheer brutality in Thirteen South. And Brutal they were. See clips and pics from all the bands below...
