September 17, 2010 - M.A.D., Moore, and Angels Beneath Me at The Haunt, Ithaca

This show had some problems. Initially, M.A.D. was not on the bill, it was supposed to be Vindicator and Aggressor. Unfortunately, Vindicator lost one of their main members and had to cancel the first few dates of their tour, and since Aggressor was traveling with them, we lost both bands. Mutually Assured Destruction from, I believe, Moravia, were awesome enough to cover one of the slots at short notice. (Pictures)

Next up was Moore from Denver, Colorado. I was thrilled to have these guys come all the way out and perform here in Ithaca. We have been playing them on The Last Exit for the Lost for years now, and their latest CD is just amazing. (Pictures)

And finally, headlining the night, also from Moravia, NY, Angels Beneath Me. This was to be vocalist Chano's last show with the band, but things changed. As of 2011, he is still in the band. (Pictures)

August 6, 2010 - Every Last Breath, Nine Round, and Check Engine at The Haunt, Ithaca, NY

Dave Interviews Nine Round with his Belly
This show was. more or less, the final show for Check Engine. Their bass player Dave has moved to North Carolina, and although they do not rule out a show here and there in the future, this was it as far as them being a regularly active band.

We started the night off with Every Last Breath from Cortland, NY. This was one of the first shows, and they are all rather young. They are also very, very good progressive Metal. Take a look at some pictures and watch below.

Up next, Nine Round from Seneca Falls, these guys won the K-Rockathon in 2010 putting them on a big stage in front of LOTS of people (I forget who the headliners and other bands were). Groove oriented Metal from some very talented guys. Pictures!

Finally, doing two sets, Check Engine. Their first set was their whole new CD, which has yet to be released. The second set was a requested set by fans. They have a sound reminiscent of bands like Helmet and Quicksand, but with the newer material, they have a lot more diversity. They put on a fantastic and fitting performance. Pictures!

June 11, 2010 - Worm Quartet, If Man is Five, Millbastards, and Others at The Haunt, Ithaca, NY

This show saw the return to Ithaca of Worm Quartet (pictured above with Joe and Dave of The Last Exit), who hasn't played here in a few years now. He pleased the crowd with his brand of solo comedy synth punk. He is a highly requested artist on the Dr. Demento show, and mostly just plays conventions nowadays. Worm Quartet hails from Rochester, NY. Check out the Pictures.

Next up, from Binghamton, NY, If Man is Five. What we, and they, did not know at the time is that this would be the last show with this lineup. They played one more show after this, with just the girls, acoustic, and broke up. That was in August 2010. In November 2010, Guitarist Brianna and Drummer Matt decided to reform the band and are current trying to complete the lineup. Pictures!

Ithaca locals Mill Bastards were up next. Old School Punk Rock, straight and simple. Pictures!

And finally, headlining the night, from Binghamton, NY, Others. Others have a rather unique style that pulls from Goth, Horror, Metal, and Punk. Enjoy some Pictures.

April 23, 2010 - Sorrow of Batavia, Gwynbleidd, Chamber Law, and Others

I am pretty sure we have had Others play for us more than any other band lately, not that that is a bad thing. For one, they are a band that has enough material to always do a different set every time they play, and they write like crazy, so they always debut some new songs, and well, they rock. They come from Binghamton, NY, and play a mix of Punk and Metal with Horror movie overtones - Pictures - Website -

Ithaca locals Chamber Law are a band we have also had play quite a bit for us over the years, and now, with a slightly different line-up than they started with, they just keep getting better and better every time we see them. - Pictures - Website -

We have been trying to get Gwynbleidd up to Ithaca to play for years. In fact, the first time we had them booked (which they had to cancel) was the last show for Chamber Law's first vocalist, D. Finally, however, things came together, and they blew everyone in the crowd away, despite no one knowing quite how to pronounce their name. Below is an interview with the band, along with the songs clips. Part of the interview appeared on The Dave and Joe Show: Volume 3. - Pictures - Website -

Finally, headlining the night, the always impressive melodic death metal of Sorrow of Batavia. Hailing from Elmira and Ithaca, these guys have not been together as long as you would think when you see them live. Blistering and brutal live, they are easily one of my favorite local bands to see live. - Pictures - Website -

April 2, 2010 - LAW, Psyche Corporation, New Animal, and Zadoc... and the Nightmare

A rather diverse show this time around. We started off with LAW, which stands for Lucifer at Work. They are from NJ, and this was their first time playing in Ithaca. They have a very cool EP, and are working on a full length CD, from which their whole set was taken.

Next up was the Cyberpunk-ness of Psyche Corporation. Genevieve comes from NYC, the rest of the band are local to Ithaca, and this performance contained the first full band performance of the song Minor Demon, thanks to New Animal. Gen also sang on one of their songs. Psyche Corporation has 3 CD's out currently, although the first is hard to find at the moment. Songs from the set were from all three.

More Videos from the show can be found on the Psyche Corporation YouTube Page.

Up next were Cortland natives New Animal. After helping with Psyche Corporation, Genevieve returned the favor by singing Dreams with them. Part of their set came from their awesome full length CD, Growth and Decay, the rest was made up of some cool covers and new songs.

Finally, ending the night was the moody darkness, and fun, that is Zadoc... and the Nightmare. Playing mostly songs off their upcoming CD, I believe they threw in at least one from their first CD from a couple years back. They are currently in studio working on their new one. Genevieve and Arydaea from Psyche Corporation also lent their dancing skills to Zadoc for this night...

All in all, an awesome show, with some fun collaborations. Thanks to everyone who came out!

February 19, 2010 - Chamber Law, 137, Lethal Dose, and Thirteen South at The Haunt, Ithaca, NY

A brutal, heavy show, marking the return to Ithaca of 137. We started with the groove centered Death Metal of Ithaca's Chamber Law, putting on what may be their best performance to date. Followed by Rochester's 137, who have gone through many lineup changes since the last time they performed for us years ago. They are just again starting to do shows and get into the swing of things, sludgy and heavy as ever. Lethal Dose was up next, from Watkins Glen. I had never seen them before, and their demo songs were good. Live, however, they were freakin' awesome. I was completely blown away by their, slightly short, set, but that demo does not do them justice. Go see them live. And finally, Ithaca's own sheer brutality in Thirteen South. And Brutal they were. See clips and pics from all the bands below...

January 24, 2010 - Psyche Corporation and A'Rebours at The Haunt, Ithaca, NY

Show Flyer - Video Ad

So this was one of our rare Sunday shows. It was a quiet night, not a great turnout.

À Rebours were on first, and this was the first show with their new drummer. And by new, I mean he joined the band about a week earlier. They played a bunch of material off their upcoming CD due out later this year.

Psyche Corporation was short a dancer as she was sick this night. Genevieve was also on Tuesday's with the Band on WVBR the previous Tuesday, you can hear that appearance here.
